Pizza (can never have enough.)

Yesterday, I made the starter doughs per the recipe in Peter Reinhart's Whole Grain Breads. Today, I put them together and completed the dough. Froze 5 of the balls and let one sit in the fridge for tonight's dinner. This time, instead of making 2-3 ounce balls of dough, which makes like one pizza, I made 5.5-6 ounce balls of dough so I can have leftovers each time. Yay!

I also made fresh tomato sauce last night since I was almost out. Today, I also wrestled with my food processor to shred the mozzarella. I refuse to buy pre-shredded cheese because it's got other ingredients in it to keep it dry and separate, plus it's never made with whole milk cheese. And that is the difference between ok pizza and awesome pizza, I have decided. Put it all together and it's ready to go into the oven. Here it is on the pizza stone...

Out of the oven....I made the crust *slightly* thicker than usual, which made it so much easier to handle.

Ready for eating......mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......in Italy, they serve it with raw prosciutto, so, what kind of wannabe Italian would I be if I didn't serve it the same way ;)

I want want want a pizza stone. This looks amazing! We had... frozen last night. :( Who are you making all this for? And when are you coming to Montreal to cook for me?

I got this stone from Target, for like 10 dollars! I'm sure you can find an inexpensive one up there! They are great for pizza and also free-form bread - it gets the bottom nice and brown.

I made it all for myself pretty much. I brought some cookies in to work, the pizza is actually smaller than it looks (got one dinner and one lunch out of it)... i usually freeze leftovers and extra bread to have on a moment's notice.

I'll cook for you anytime :) And Frozen is OK sometimes!

Deb, I am a sucker for a homemade pizza <3 And those pics just made me really hungry! I got a pizza stone like 2 months back and went pizza crazy. The first few times were pretty dissapointing, but it got kinda good. You've just convinced me to give it another go. Mmmm!

Pizza definitely takes many attempts to get right. I've done it countless times and I still mess it up sometimes. Keep trying, girl! :)

Looks delicioso!!! My mom & I tried making pizza in her oven (remember how mine would never cook?) and it still didn't in hers :( We're definitely doing something wrong. Yours, on the other hand, looks perfect!! Yum!!!
